The Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley membership endorsed on June 18, 2020, the following statement in Support of Racial Justice:
“The Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley (DCSMV) stands in solidarity in the call for justice. The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and so many others call upon all of us to stand up, speak out, and work to eradicate these unspeakable tragedies and epic failures in our nation’s justice system. We believe we must act now to fight to end systemic racism and build solidarity with and support for oppressed and marginalized people through education, direct action, and support of local and national racial justice organizing efforts. We are committed to bringing an anti-racist lens to all the work of the Democratic Club of Santa Maria Valley (DCSMV). Additionally, we are devoted to providing tools to educate ourselves and our community in the active pursuit of ending systemic racism.”
