Save the EPA

The administration has released a blueprint for environmental destruction. Can you help stop it?

For more than 45 years, the Environmental Protection Agency has been America’s chief defender of clean air and water, wildlife, and wild places.

Yet just hours after President Trump pledge to “promote clean air and clean water” in a joint statement to Congress,  a White House proposal has surfaced that would slash the budget and staff levels for our nation’s chief environmental guardian. Under the proposal, the EPA’s staff will be slashed by one fifth and enforcement programs will shrink. America’s air and water will get dirtier and our health and wildlife will suffer.

This is the wrong direction for America and our planet. Will you take 30 seconds right now to turn this around? Urge your Senators and Representative to reject planned cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency.

While the final details of the Trump Administration’s proposed cuts are still emerging, it’s clear that officials are pushing dramatic cuts that could compromise key protections for clean air and water, wildlife, and the wild places that you and I love.
It’s a slash and burn approach that could include:
Reducing the Environmental Protection Agency’s budget by nearly a quarter to help pay for the President’s proposed military buildup; and
Shuttering the agency’s Office of Enforcement & Compliance Assurance, which could hobble enforcement of popular safeguards for nature such as the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Oil Pollution Act, and Safe Drinking Water Act
The EPA has cleared the air of our cities. It has dramatically reduced acid rain that damages our forests and waters. And it saved the bald eagle — one of the most iconic animals in America — from extinction.
Unfortunately, even these accomplishments are unlikely to dissuade the President and new EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt from their planned assault on this vital defender of our natural treasures. In fact, Pruitt reiterated his support for eliminating the EPA altogether just this past Saturday.

The good news is that Congress — and not the President — has the final say on federal spending. And not everyone in Congress is on board with the Trump plan to slash staff and funding at the EPA.
That’s where you come in.

Take a stand for the clean air and water, wildlife, and wild places that you love. Please send a message to your Senators and Representative right now, and urge them to reject President Trump’s proposed cuts to the EPA.
Your lawmakers were elected to represent you and your values in Washington, DC — and that includes standing up for a healthy environment in CA and across the country. Only you can convince them to stand against the destruction of our environment by opposing these cuts.

Please take action now.
